š„šæ Philodendron āRing of Fireā šæš„
(pronounced āfill-oh-DEN-dron ring of fireā)
Also sometimes sold as Philodendron Hendersonās Pride.
A true collectorās gem, Philodendron āRing of Fireā dazzles with jagged, flame-like leaves splashed in brilliant shades of green, yellow, cream, and orange. Each leaf unfurls with a unique burst of colorāsometimes fiery, sometimes subtleāmaking every new leaf a surprise. The serrated, almost tooth-edged margins and varied variegation give this plant an energetic, sculptural presence worthy of its dramatic name.
š” Care Tips:
āļø Light ā Bright, indirect light maintains strong variegation. Too little light leads to mostly green leaves; avoid harsh direct sun.
š§ Water ā Allow the top 2 inches (5 cm) of soil to dry between waterings. Enjoys a chunky, well-draining aroid mix.
š”ļø Humidity ā Prefers 60 %+ humidity. Can adapt to average indoor levels but may grow slower or lose variegation vibrancy.
š± Growth ā Self-heading hybrid that forms a compact clump rather than climbing. Mature leaves can reach 10ā16 inches (25ā40 cm) long with bold serrations and shifting coloration from leaf to leaf.
š Difficulty: Intermediate (requires light balance and patience for color expression)
š¾ Pet Safety: Mildly toxic if ingested; may cause stomach upset. All pets are unique, and symptoms can vary in presentation or severity.
š Collectorās Tip
The āRing of Fireā is believed to be a hybrid between Philodendron wendlandii and Philodendron tortum, inheriting the fiery serration of one and the vivid variegation of the other. Its variegation is stable but highly variableāsome leaves may show all green while others burst with orange and cream flames. Give it consistent warmth, humidity, and bright light to bring out its most dramatic hues.
