π₯πΏ Rhaphidophora tetrasperma (raf-id-OH-for-uh tet-rah-SPUR-mah) πΏπ₯
Also known as: Mini Monstera, Ginny Philodendron, Monstera Minima (not a true Monstera or Philodendron)
This trendy climber is beloved for its small, deeply split leaves that resemble a miniature Monstera deliciosa. Fast-growing and full of personality, itβs perfect for anyone who wants the jungle look but in a more compact, apartment-friendly size.
π‘ Care Tips:
βοΈ Light β Thrives in bright, indirect light. Can tolerate medium light but grows faster and with better fenestrations in brighter conditions. Avoid harsh direct sun which can scorch leaves.
π§ Water β Water when the top 1β2 inches of soil dry out. Likes evenly moist soil but is sensitive to sogginess. Ensure excellent drainage.
π‘οΈ Humidity β Prefers 50%+ humidity but adapts to average household conditions. Ideal temps are 65β85Β°F (18β29Β°C). Protect from drafts and cold dips.
π± Growth β Vigorous climber that loves to climb moss poles, trellises, or stakes. Can grow several feet tall indoors. Regular pruning keeps it manageable and encourages bushiness.
π Difficulty: Easy to Intermediate (forgiving but grows fast, so may need frequent pruning or repotting).
πΎ Pet Safety: Toxic if ingested. Contains calcium oxalate crystals that may irritate the mouth, throat, and stomach. All pets are unique and reactions may vary in symptoms and severity.
π Collectorβs Tip:
Although often mistaken for a baby Monstera, Rhaphidophora tetrasperma is its own species native to Thailand and Malaysia. Train it to climb for larger, more fenestrated leaves β trailing plants stay smaller and less dramatic.
