👻🌿 Philodendron ‘Florida Ghost’ 🌿👻
(pronounced “fill-oh-DEN-dron flor-ih-duh ghost”)
Also known as Philodendron pedatum ‘Florida Ghost’.

This playful spirit of the aroid world unfurls new leaves in a creamy white that gradually fade through minty greens before settling into a deep, glossy emerald. Each uniquely lobed leaf looks a bit like a spectral hand reaching through the canopy—no two ever quite the same. Its shape-shifting foliage and smooth, waxy sheen give it an enchanting, otherworldly glow under soft light.

💡 Care Tips:
☀️ Light – Bright, indirect light keeps leaves vibrant and encourages that ghostly white coloration; too little light will turn them fully green.

💧 Water – Keep soil evenly moist but never soggy. This plant will be shipped to you in our homemade semi-hydro set up! (Sphagnum Moss, pumice, orchid bark & biochar for anti-compaction/aeration, fungal mitigation above a LECA-clay balls- water reservoir). You can transition to whatever medium you like best, Chunky Aroid mix is a great option! Once transitioned- less is more! Allow the top 2-3 inches to dry between waterings.

🌡️ Humidity – Enjoys 60 % + humidity but adapts well to average household levels if given consistent moisture.
🌱 Growth – A climbing variety that appreciates a moss pole; can reach several feet in height with mature leaves up to 12 inches long. Moderate to fast grower under ideal conditions.

📊 Difficulty: Intermediate (light and moisture balance needed for color retention)
🐾 Pet Safety: Mildly toxic if ingested; may cause stomach upset. All pets are unique, and symptoms can vary in presentation or severity.

🌟 Collector’s Tip
The ‘Florida Ghost’ is believed to be a hybrid of Philodendron squamiferum × Philodendron pedatum. Its color shifts are due to chlorophyll development as each new leaf matures. Under strong light, leaves may stay pale longer—some growers even experiment with slightly higher light to maintain that spectral hue.
