๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’š Philodendron asplundii ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฟ
(pronounced โ€œfill-oh-DEN-dron as-PLUN-dee-eyeโ€)

Graceful and refined, Philodendron asplundii is an elegant climbing species native to the rainforests of Ecuador and Colombia. Its long, narrow, leaves feature deep green satin surfaces with subtle veining and a smooth, velvety sheen that catches the light beautifully. Each new leaf unfurls with a gentle bronze hue before maturing into a lush forest green. Slender and elongated, the foliage creates a fluid, almost draping appearance as it climbs, making this species a striking yet tranquil addition to any collection.

๐Ÿ’ก Care Tips:
โ˜€๏ธ Light โ€“ Bright, indirect light enhances color and growth. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch its delicate surface.

๐Ÿ’ง Water โ€“ Keep soil evenly moist but never soggy. This plant will be shipped to you in our homemade semi-hydro set up! (Sphagnum Moss, pumice, orchid bark & biochar for anti-compaction/aeration, fungal mitigation above a LECA-clay balls- water reservoir). You can transition to whatever medium you like best, Chunky Aroid mix is a great option! Keep the top inch (2โ€“3 cm) of soil slightly moist; do not allow to fully dry out. Prefers an airy, well-draining mix.

๐ŸŒก๏ธ Humidity โ€“ Thrives at 70 %+ humidity. Can adapt to average indoor levels if supplemented with a humidifier.
๐ŸŒฑ Growth โ€“ Vigorous climber with slender leaves reaching 10โ€“16 inches (25โ€“40 cm) long. Provide a moss pole or totem for support.

๐Ÿ“Š Difficulty: Intermediate (needs consistent humidity and balanced watering)
๐Ÿพ Pet Safety: Mildly toxic if ingested; may cause stomach upset. All pets are unique, and symptoms can vary in presentation or severity.

๐ŸŒŸ Collectorโ€™s Tip
Philodendron asplundii is often confused with Philodendron melanochrysum due to its elongated shape, but its leaf texture is smoother and less velvety. The species was named in honor of the Swedish botanist Erik Asplund, who contributed to early tropical plant studies. It thrives in warm, humid environments and rewards proper care with gracefully cascading vines of jewel-toned foliage.
